Stranger on the Third Floor 1940
Many critics credit this film as the first true noir. Lorre is very sinister and unnerving in his protagonist role. Reminiscent of his role in Fritz Lang’s “M”, he masters the part with very little dialogue - which less is more applies here. Definitely worth a watch.
