Funny, smart, a little self-ingulgent. A love letter to Herzog's films, mockumentaries, and cryptids. Slow at times, but has hypnotic draw thanks to Herzog's presence.

It's got the thematic and emotional heart to close the series right. Not so much about Marty this time, which is a good thing. Gives Doc his flowers. Imaginative and rich design and photography. Underrated.

The Ugly 1997
A rewatch from over 25 years ago doesn't reveal any new answers for this underseen New Zealand effort. The director obviously had a clear vision for the presentation with its tight color palette and jarring (but appropriate) editing choices.
The script is repetitive and the pacing is slow. It would have benefitted from being a 45 minute short film or episode in a horror anthology. There's simply too much dead air and unrealized thematic depth even with the effective imagery and cruelty.
