Scavengers Reign 2023
Saying "This show isn't for everyone" is hardly a unique sentiment, but I feel like it's one of the only ways to characterize Scavenger Reign. There's a lot to love, each episode is packed with creative alien flora and fauna that can make the foreign environment feel surreal, inviting, dangerous, or indescribable. Alongside strong characters and some of the best depictions of Eldritch Horror I've seen in a while, there was plenty that kept me interested.

The movie opens strong with fun action, charismatic characters, and a campy but self-aware tone. Despite the bland script, the movie kept an upbeat and engaging momentum until the third act. From that point, the plot becomes burdensome, the main character becomes unlikeable, and McGregor's schtick gets overplayed.
