Even though I'm a cat lover, I have to admit that this film really hits on what it feels like, sometimes, to grow up in the Midwest. The lack of a traditional narrative structure really does make you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, and adds to a sense of helplessness that suggests the memory of you will live and die in a below average number of decades all within the same few square miles.
