Fuck.
A movie where the director tells you it’s ok to laugh and then stares at you with concern for laughing.
The positions I took whilst watching this varied, but with consistent grimace. The story is fascinatingly absurd - such an impressive debut script from Samy Burch. Haynes’s directing provoked so many things to think about, it was intertwined with metaphors and suggestions.
Acting royalty didn’t disappoint. Juliane was hauntingly insane and Natalie personified this in a completely different yet equally harrowing…

There are faults to this, it mainly needed more depth, but I found it entertaining; it was v nicely directed and I was invested throughout. Barry was great, but I wanted more from his character. I think his motive could have been explored better and his nature more sadistic. My fav performances were from the parents, Rosamund Pike stole the show she was excellent.
