The Monkey 2025
Now we know Osgood Perkins can’t do comedy… at all… The Monkey has promise in places, but the start and end feels so messy, I had expected more after Longlegs. Still, this is an enjoyable enough throwaway horror flick to enjoy when there’s nothing better to do

The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue 1974
I love this creepy little movie! It’s basically Night of the Living Dead but set in the foggy British countryside. Great atmosphere and bleak locations, accompanied by a simple brilliant score (which fills the movie with dread) plus the gore is gross and these zombies are disgusting and well ahead of their time.

New Nightmare 1994
Always loved this movie but for some reason I’ve been harder on it over recent years… On a revisit, this is surely everything an Elm Street fan could ever want! A creative new concept, full of imaginative ideas and sequences, the action really delivers under Wes Craven’s masterful direction, reaching heights never seen before in this franchise (the freeway set piece, which is relentless, and the epic hellish finale in Kruger’s flooded ancient lair) even improving upon some classic moments from the original. Deserves more appreciation!
