Very pretty but unfortunately falls into the camp of horror films which seem to think being gory and horrible is some kind of point being made. I think it was meant to be about where chronic loneliness can take you, all of the characters seem to reflect an inability to connect on a basic level other than the other mother. But it does nothing with this apart from 'ewww look how messed up she is! Cray cray amirite?'

Sentimental, incredibly American and definitely cheesy. Yet, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. I think the ending slightly detracts from the story, as it deals with inner fantasy and our fulfillment in its spirit of liberation rather than its specifics. Sure he doesn't actually jump into a burning building, but he does answer his need to experience the stories within the pictures he's been processing for 16 years, and that's what his phantasies were trying to tell him. A good map for desire work. Also I would like to see a film from her perspective.

A film which comes across as an attempt to capture a moment, and the lives of those involved in it. Understated, almost muted, it feels strange to say it captured those depicted very well. Left with a sense of tragedy and acceptance, there's a lack that pervades every interaction, all the characters almost defined by what they aren't, including within their relationships to one another. Jouissance captured in the lives of a few in all it's perfection.

Superb. A story of learning how to find oneself through a life that would seem to be great but can't help but feel tragic and melancholic throughout until the epilogue. Finding validation through everything but yourself until the chips are down and you have it hammered into you that you will fuck up, break up, find love, think its not good enough, make mistakes and be left to confront the consequences; alas, the only thing that will help you is you and the world, live the dream within, not the reflection of one in others
