  Brendan Fraser’s performance moved me to tears. An uncomfortable watch pretty much the whole way through (i.e. an Aronofsky film). It puts a magnifying lens on one man’s physical/emotional suffering at the end of a complicated life. It also shines a realistic light on the empathy (or lack thereof) humanity can show to people they unknowingly dehumanize.
