I love the part where Zorro disguised himself as a monk and risked his life just to tell Linda Darnell she's extremely hot.

Incredible production design and staging is what makes this film brilliant. The black and white photography of Rod Steigers office with the large map of Naples behind him is magnificent.

The fact that Rod Steigers character exists mostly in the background, rarely engaging with the public, or speaking to other characters, and yet is the most important of them all is truly terrifying. His corrupting influence is like an ancient evil, but without any of the black robes, or bloodsucking. Just a man in a suit, behind a desk, with a cheque book for billions of lire that he can take out at any time.

    In the Mouth of Madness

This was very disappointing considering how well it's regarded.
The story was lackluster and messily constructed, with comical and badly written and acted characters.
As well as this the horror ideas weren't necessarily gory, scary, evocative or original.
This film basically has all the flaws of a carpenter movie, horribly blocked scenes, bad direction for actors, and very questionable execution.
I don't think there was very much at all which intrigued me.

The snail sex scenes where he slips his tongue into the female snails vagina made me very uncomfortable, so I can't rate this too highly. Very unchristian movie with the sheer volume of snail orgies.
P.s this movie is very racist in hindsight. The Mexican character only exists to make tacos and say the word amigo.
