this is a middle of the road marvel movie. I probably only enjoyed it because I love sam wilson so much. I loved that the implicit point is that he isn’t a super soldier, he’s a man whose superpower is compassion. and I was like damn you’re right. his superpower IS compassion and that’s why I love him so much.
I really liked how his lack of superpowers was embraced instead of ignored. if they had just tried to ignore…

Deadpool & Wolverine 2024
I watched this movie for hugh jackman’s wolverine. I was pleasantly surprised by the genuine appreciation for the fox x men franchise, but overall this film lacks a cohesive and interesting story. there were a lot of funny moments but the movie needed a better balance between humor and emotional depth if it really wanted me to care. for all of its talk about the decline of the mcu and the mcu’s gratuitous nostalgia bait, it didn’t actually have a lot to say. the only reason I would rewatch would be for the twenty seconds of shirtless hugh jackman.
