The Fly 1986
The last 30 minutes are legitimately incredible, but I forgot how slow the first 2/3 is. Fun movie, but it really takes a while to heat up. I always love seeing the gorgeous artistry of practical effects onscreen— so the ending makes it all worthwhile. Side note: Geena Davis is kind of terrible in this… she is just dead on screen!

Truly one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. An ugly, gross, stupid, and cruel experience all around. This movie is loud and annoying. I really wanted to leave midway. I felt bad for Toni Collette lol. Mark ruffalo was so…SO BAD in this!!! Bong joon ho fraud watch is in effect until further notice

Ok so I loved the practical effects. You can tell people spent hours and hours making those models and prosthetics. It reminds me of movies like The Fly and The Substance, where it’s mostly practical effects that are doing the heavy lifting. And when something *is* computer generated, it’s just enough to get over the finish line. This is so much more fun for the audience than when everything is CGI. Great movie. Understated, sophisticated, and subtle performances from the entire cast. Ralph Fiennes is amazing and so is Isabella Rossellini as the head of the Sisters. Beautifully shot. There is a strange and mysterious beauty to Catholicism, but also a good deal of silliness— the film captures that. The ending will blow your mind and you will never see it coming. Not too long!
