I’m not usually a fan of remakes, but if anyone were to remake 1922’s Nosferatu with respect for the original and its significance in film history, I’d want it to be Eggers.
I truly admire Egger’s craft and appreciation for history. It’s evident in all his work. He adequately pays respect to the original and does it justice, while elevating it in most regards.
Despite the positives, my disappointment lies in the perversion. It would have been a more powerful retelling without adding in unnecessary sexualization and gore porn to satisfy today’s viewer.
