  Marking for my own posterity that this is the first watch I saw the sensuality and sexuality of the statue scene. Teenage me was over here being obsessed with the veiled woman. Now I’m seeing the posteriors. Some critiques write themselves. 😆

  Look, I’m not going to say anything new about this movie, but it’s truly fascinating how much the choice to cast Ripley gender-blind informs the whole goddam thing. 

  Opening on Kane’s tighty-whities (looking innocent and infantile) and closing on Ripley’s (the infamously irresistible spectacle) just hammers home how much white patriarchy harms and benefits our heroine.
