Midsommar is a monkey's paw story. Dani makes her 3 wishes: overcome her death trauma, rid herself of her asshole boyfriend, and find friends that don't hate her. Her wishes come true but in a horrifying and absurd manner. She chooses to kill her boyfriend and acts the May Queen role. We see Functionality in this violent and coercive community from her smile at the end.
