  Brutal, unflinching violence paired with some nuanced performances and gorgeous cinematography, Director Scott Cooper gives us a journey, while being familiar but greatly executed, about self-reflection and the option to change ones moral code to do what it is morally right. I recommend it.

  Funny, heartwarming, and such a delight. Despite a problem I have with the way the bullies are portrayed, everything is pretty flawless. Nick Robinson gives one of the best performances of his career (and possibly of the year) as well as everyone else adding their own voice in the story and making an impact in the scenes they are in. This is a new coming-of-age classic in the making. Never be afraid of being yourself.
