  Unbelievable, essential watch. Haunting and harrowing. The single-shot episodes were more than a gimmick, they kept the unrelenting energy and pace of how awful everything was. Everyone involved in this deserves an award.

  My new favorite Miyazaki movie, likely in my top movies of all time. 

  It had all the components of a great Ghibli film. The backdrops, the creatures, the soundtrack, the writing, the heart. It felt like the most “complete” of his films. I could see how some would think the first act and a half might be slow but I thought it was perfectly paced.
