Blue Velvet 1986
Weird-ass movie that I mostly liked and also don’t really ever want to watch again? I had admittedly never seen a David Lynch film before this, but I kind of knew what to expect and I feel like this film mostly met my expectations.
It was also completely bonkers lmaooo. Weirdly disturbing at times but also really funny and campy at others? Idk if this was the best Lynch introduction or not but it was definitely a ride.

Had a lot of fun with this one! Generally thought it was a funny, biting critique of Bong Joon-Ho’s typical targets (capitalism, corporatism, and, this time, a pretty direct take-down of Tr*mp). Nickel Boys 2024
Very nearly a masterpiece. I’ve truthfully never seen anything quite like it. It’s central concept (told from the first-person perspectives of two boys, with the camera literally allowing us to see the world through their eyes) could feel gimmicky, but it never does. Instead, it allows for what may be some of the best cinematography of the year, as well as a heart-rending, incredible story of injustice, abuse, survival, and friendship.
Off the bat, that this wasn’t even mentioned for…
