  Friendship or brotherhood. Sometimes the bond goes deeper than the boxes society places us into allow. Jake Gyllenhall has just enough of the crazy look in his eye to really keep you on the edge of your seat.

  I’ve never seen the Broadway musical, which I am told is significantly better, so my opinion is surely invalid. That said, this doesn’t even come close to some of the other musical films from Broadway inspired shows. Great singing, great music. It just wasn’t my favorite.

  Before I started watching, I asked my wife who has seen it before if I was going to cry. Her response, "probably." Definitely should have taken the over on that bet. The storyline of this movie is played out in such a way that you can feel yourself torn between cheering for Evan and wondering why he is doing this to himself. Lots of moments for introspection to think about how every story has more than one side.
