Just Mercy 2019
How this movie was overlooked for major award nominations is beyond me. What a powerful story, but hard to watch because of the truth behind it. It had truly stellar performances from the whole cast, particularly Jamie Foxx and Michael B. Jordan, both robbed of Oscar nominations. Tim Blake Nelson is a stand-out, as well. The only thing I can think to 'complain' about is that it's a tad too long at 2 hours and 16 minutes.

Black Panther 2018
Wow. The MCU strikes again, delivering a fresh and original flick that could have been Yet Another Standard Superhero Movie, but is so much more. Outstanding talent is on display everywhere, from the cast, to the script, the costume design, cinematography, and beyond. With humor and bad-assery to spare (especially from the women, all outrageously awesome), this origin story might well be one for the ages. Two thumbs way up.
