2025This film is set in a very sensitive context, drawing heavy inspiration from the 1998 riots in Indonesia and the discrimination faced by the Chinese-Indonesian minority.
From a technical standpoint, the film is quite well-made. The CGI is convincing, the set design successfully recreates a tense and dystopian setting, and the performances from the cast are really good.
However, when it comes to the plot, it tends to follow a familiar formula. While the subject matter is powerful, the storytelling doesn’t break much new ground and may come across as predictable to some viewers.
