Godard has yet to win me over, though this one is a bit more interesting than breathless. I loved the line “why must one always talk? I think one should often just keep quiet, live in silence” that Anna Karina drops on the yapping guy near the end. I appreciate how this scene mirrors an earlier one where she watched The passion of Joan of arc. Trying to communicate the importance of quietness to men can feel like being burned at the stake.
