I just love the way Martel frames her characters, and the action that's taking place. Her composition is unusual but it sinks into your mind until it feels completely natural.
Her films are so incredibly realistic, the light, the dialogue, but only through her unmatchable framing and the use of colors, are you reminded you are actually watching a movie. To me this is pure cinema.

A family drama woven into the political context of contemporary Iranian society, this film is powerful in its narrative and supported by an amazing cast. The sacred fig is clearly a reference to the revolution. Some traditions should die.

Great film 🎥. I like Inarritu's work and here he explores not only himself as an artist but new forms in the narrative. Although there are clear references to other filmmakers, this is clear ground for him and he does good. Khondji's cinematography is amazing 👏 and he as well seems to explore new paths with that wide angle lens all the time and the ever tracking shots on the Arri Trinity it seems.
I loved the music and the acting as well. Great film. 👍

Arguably one of Stephen Graham's greatest ever performances. The four part mini series is slow paced, and minimalist in its narrative, stylized in the social realism genre and rooted in its alcoholic protagonist. The score by PJ Harvey really adds to the overall heavy and somber tone. Flashbacks to the 90s shot on video are remarkable. The plot is very straightforward but it rounds up so tightly in the end. Totally worth the time.
