Nostalgia is a 2022 Italian-French drama film in Italian and Arabic language about a man who returns to his hometown of Naples, Italy after spending 40 years between Lebanon and Egypt. Once he gets back he faces the biggest dilemma of his life about his untoward past which haunts him after he gets back to his roots.

The film hovers between crime thriller and character drama and both its hero and the viewer aren’t sure just which way it’s ultimately…

    Farha

    ★★★

Farha is an Arabic language Palestinian historical drama film based on the real life incident of a girl when her father locks her up in a concealed, small food storage space by the house, promising to return during the violence which erupted in the region in 1948.

Farha is not a typical coming-of-age story which we watch often, it is a harrowing tale of a girl who is traumatised after witnessing the horrors of a war locked inside a small room.

It is an impactful film and a decent one-time watch.

    Do give it a shot.

    My rating 3/5.

The Trader (Sovdagari) is a Georgian short film, which follows Gela, a middle-aged man who travels the poverty-stricken countryside in Georgia to sell secondhand clothing, toys, and everyday items from the back of his minibus and deals with Potatoes as the currency! It is hard to tell such a story in just 23 minutes but the Director has done a real good job in showing how ambitions are crushed due to poverty and how tough it is for Gela to have a heart! I liked this a lot. Do give this a shot. Available on Netflix.

Pahuna is Nepali language Indian regional film set in Sikkim, India available on Netflix and co-produced by Priyanka Chopra. It is a simple, charming tale of 3 Nepalese siblings trying to survive in India while being separated from their parents. The movie is all about Ishika Gurung and Anmoul Limboo, the 2 kids who have done a fabulous job and are absolutely endearing. It is nice and simple tale which would be enjoyed by everyone; kids and adults alike. The surprise cameo by Bhaichung Bhutia was beautiful! Do give this a shot. My rating 3.5/5
