  The themes explored in the film are truly intricate and deep, yet the execution isn't. The theme of vengeance and redemption was prevalent and there was a huge chance to really highlight that by making him actually pay for what he did. Additionally, the script overall seemed dull, heavily relying on rather predictable twists to keep the plot going.   as i've seen everyone comment on here, i must agree Lanthimos is really a perv. I mean if you just look at his earlier works while directing music videos back in Greece it is evident that the guy has smth going on. And don't get me started on poor things cos i feel like the whole of it was just sex and it being an actual film and not a porno was an excuse to use sex as "art". i'm honestly glad more people are realizing this because movies like this and dogtooth are just glamorized pornos
