this movie is incredibly ambitious, and i’m mostly here for it. it has some glaring flaws, the most frustrating being the dialogue and the cringey, fanservicey callbacks to the OG. some of the scenes flex the practical effects in a way that feels very out of place. that being said, it is effectively dreadful in a way that álvarez does well. in the final act he does the horror thing that he excels at and it’s, well, excellent. it’d be a much better film if the characters just didnt open their mouths LOL
