  god this is painful to watch as a mexican person who has been personally affected by such a miserable situation as cartel violence, which i can assure you is something very very real and unsurprisingly beyond the comprehension of a 70-something frenchman. even giving it the benefit of the doubt does not help the bad acting, ai-esque dialogue and jumbled story progression.
  aesthetically, the sets are beautiful and the lighting is carefully curated to immerse the audience. until the dialogue takes you right out. in a bad way. one star simply for the cinematography.
