Robert Eggers has done it again!!!! Instant reaction after watching this and what a masterfully crafted world this from start to finish with breathtaking visuals and some incredible characters/performances. Loved every aspect of this haunting world building till the very end with that final shot and the dialogue of William Dafoe’s character. Stunning. Plague epidemic and Count kinda goes hand in hand. Almost like an allegory to plague - This alone makes it a masterpiece for me.

I thought I will hate this because I am not so much into Cinderella like movies but this really surprised me how much tight the script was even with all the fantastical elements. Tight in the sense it was not something nonsensical fantasy writing for the heck of it. There’s a message in this. There’s a reason for everything that is happening with the character -  Her arc. Musicals are rightly placed especially climax was wow. Beautifully shot and VFX is stunning. Still surprised that I loved this.

The narrative is not an usual biopic writing that we see. This movie starts with an ending and ends with the beginning. So basically the film is exploring WHYs of Sardar Udham’s motive and in a non-linear way it takes the story forward. I liked…

Don’t remember being this happy after a director makes a magical comeback like this. His focus on every aspect in this film was magnificent. Never for once went off track. All his usual templates are still there that I love but everything just felt so polished this time - Non linear storytelling, great music, unconventional visual storytelling using animation, beautiful cinematography, great performances. All are there this time. Usually in his bad movies, only music/songs remained to be the greatest thing…
