Only watched this to personally reconcile its 13 Oscar nominations with the backlash from Mexican and trans people. I found it supremely overrated. Bad representation. Bad music. Bad Spanish. Unintentionally comical. Evokes a bad novela in terms of plot and acting.
If the Academy is trying to elevate trans and queer voices, this just ain’t it. Progressive for progressive’s sake, the politics feel empty and performative. Save yourself the two hours.
