As usual with the previous movies the shining aspects are the vfx and Jim Carrey, hence the two stars. However on the story front, this is a fail. It seems to be a trope that sequels get worse and worse, sonic 3 is no exception. The net difference from the start to the end is very minimal, this is emphasized for the viewer by the repition of the opening scene.
