I think if this was 2008 and I had spent the year prior enjoying the weekly exploits of Galileo on TV before going to see this in theatres, I'd have had a religious experience.

Both a brilliant adaptation of The Devotion of Suspect X novel and a strong pay-off for the characters arcs of Utsumi and Manabu from the Galileo drama. Their iconic comedic beats are still here but it never detracts from the heavy thematic musings of the original…

    In the Lost Lands

    It's the 2000s.
I'm opening up the DVD cupboard and deciding if I want to rewatch Resident Evil Apocalypse, Underworld Evolution, Chronicles of Riddick or Van Helsing.
    Life is good.

    Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

Genuinely worthy of the term "Saga."

As much the successor to Fury Road as it is the return to the mythos and Weird Australia of the original Mad Max trilogy.
This time filling in the spaces between some of the greatest spectacle ever put to screen with a grandiose coming-of-age revenge narrative playing out across long stretches of some of Miller's most idiosyncratic stylings and direction yet.
It gets surreal, it gets ugly and it gets very, very mean.

A complete self-indulgence in his own brand of strange that also means this is maybe the coolest blockbuster to ever do it!
