The Vanishing 1988
I like the cold feel to the movie. The movie essentially gives away the whole plot in the first 20 minutes and it kept interest because the rest of the time was spent filling in the blanks and speculating what happened to Saskia. It’s a good crime/thriller. Definitely interesting to see the killer modify his strategies along the way, and the ending was creepy. It lined up with the dream Saskia had earlier in the movie.

More of a psychological thriller/suspense movie rather than horror. Loved the cinematography and plot line. More could have been done with the plot to make it more than just ‘it’s the devil’s fault’, but the suspense kind of made up for that. Loved Nic Cage, was definitely a creepy character.

Love the romanticism to this fantasy. Anthony Hopkins and young Brad Pitt’s chemistry is so good. But the plot hole at the end really bothered me?? What’s the guy’s real name? Is everyone just going to call him Joe from now on?? 🤔
