  fascinating look into the lives of such a reclusive group, the pacing, lack of voice and soundtrack, and lingering nature shots really give you a sense of how and why they live like this. it forces the viewer to contemplate the nature, architecture, and each movement of the subjects deliberately

  this film had some really good moments, but overall was really underwhelming for what i've come to expect from bong joon ho. the commentary felt shallow and excessively heavy-handed while some scenes had nothing of merit to add to any aspect of the film. the ending felt rushed and largely meaningless. mark ruffalo's trump impression was so over the top that i cringed at times.
  all that being said, robert pattinson did a great job as making mickey both extremely annoying and oddly charming. i dont think it could have been tolerable with a different actor.
