very fun watch, saw it at Harbor East Cinemas
solid script with fun dialogue and characters, couple of gripes (why so much Gen Z slang for the young woman lol) but it felt like a tight and enjoyable movie without much fat
the lighting and shot composition on the opening oner brought me in immediately
weirdest episode of Severance i’ve seen so far
uplifting movie that’s an incredibly enjoyable watch. it has its flaws, mainly poorly aged CGI and a plot that rides every branch you expect. (it was hard not to roll my eyes at the board room ending)
but man the shots are beautiful, the soundtrack is great, dialogue is funny, and you walk away feeling better than you walked in.
it’s baffling how much this movie can accomplish with how little it really uses. javier bardem’s character felt more like an inevitable deliverer of fate than a human being.
when i was in early high school, i read The Road for required reading and couldn’t believe how bleak, yet captivating, it was. it had me so caught up that i finished it in a day. cormac mccarthy delivers the same experience with the story told here.

the world is brutal, you can dream of warmth and happily ever afters, but eventually you’re gonna wake up.
Even Craig Robinson and Detective Boyle could not save this hot mess.
