Miyazaki has returned to some of the ideas in Spirited Away with a tighter and more personal story with its own kind of weirdness. And of course the animation is stellar, with some really nice shifts in style in more emotional moments.
On this rewatch it was kind of funny? The Matrix has gone from cool to camp in my books — and I enjoy it all the more.

I was disappointed by the second and third act. I hoped after the first one that this movie would lean more into the Osage perspective, but then I was watching famous actors Leo and Robert have fun with their impressions and arranging horrible murders for two hours. I think the idea was for Leo's character Ernest to transform from redeemable to heinous, but this conclusion arrived very early and then the characters just tread water waiting for the plot to resolve.
