There’s lots to love about Ben Hur. Big sets. Big music. Classic story.
But also. Black face. And it’s a little bit Forest Gump, but with Jesus stuff instead of Elvis, JFK and the smiley face T-shirt.
Also I don’t need two separate scenes where a character has to talk to each of his four horses individually and wish them goodnight.
A nice little portrait of a low budget movie studio from the late 80s/early 90s. Weirdly spends a little too much of its short running time on Troma, which is a whole other thing

I don’t know what’s going on in these movies at this point. Is there a moral centre anymore? Jigsaw used to torture people to get them to appreciate life more. Now there’s something to do with a property development scam.
This one almost does something clever by suggesting that there is a way to get out of these traps by cooperating/using your brain, but I guess that’s not important when you can just do a grimy episode of NCIS instead.
2 stars because I’m still kinda enjoying myself even if the plot is dumb
