A genuinely enjoyable horror romp that dissects the modern patriarchy (submission, mostly) and abusive relationships. There are times that the allegory gets very in-your-face and sort of goes, "HEY, DO YOU GET IT???" yes. I get it. Thank you. Quite a few twists-- some predictable, others actually out of left field. Went in completely blind-- like, 100% blind, it was a mystery screening. I knew nothing about this movie and hadn't even seen a trailer for it. I'd say it made the experience much more enjoyable, as I gave the trailer a watch afterwards and it completely spoils the premise.
7/10
A John Wick-flavored action flick that brings most its enjoyability from its premise and choreography. A fun ride most of the way through, but can't seem to decide if killing is "cringe" or "cool" and decides to raise these moral questions at very odd points in the film. Obviously just a training ground for Skarsgard to get some experience in action choreography for his upcoming flop, The Crow.
A surprisingly engaging sequel to the requel that kept me engaged the entire time. Building upon relationships and events from the previous movie that allows our characters to actually have reactions to the events and growth as a unit, Scream 6 is a step above its predecessor by incorporating a lot of fun set pieces and moving parts. Marvel has really stretched the Ant-Man "sometimes this guy is small and other times he's BIG!!" concept pretty thin, but this was fine. An entertaining-- if not mostly narratively pointless-- 2 hour romp that gives me an excuse to look at Paul Rudd for an extended period of time
P.S. - stop telling me your villain is a bad guy and let me see him actually being a bad guy
P.S.S - Let Michael Douglas rest, he so clearly wants to be done with these movies lmao
