this was incredible, i loved this!! biting, sharp satire that remains hauntingly relevant today, unbelievable lead performances, and SUCH good writing. didn’t really know what to expect going in, but this was so great. you could tell lumet was having a lot of fun with this.

fascinating debut and makes it extra disappointing to see what direction green’s career has gone in. many have pointed out the malick inspiration, and although i’ve only seen days of heaven, the stylistic parallels are still palpable here. i LOVED all of the slice-of-life moments and found them so realistically written and performed, with great understated humor that felt like a such a genuine window into these kids’ lives. it got very dreamy and a little difficult to get on its wavelength toward the end, but i still really enjoyed this and think it’s well worth a watch.

my GOD i absolutely adored this. some of the hardest laughs i’ve ever had from a keaton and even from a silent in general. the physical comedy is just unparalleled, so many excellent gags. yeahh the tail end hasn’t aged perfectly but it still leads to some really hilarious moments. this is a new and unexpected favorite! love this man

this was alright. incredible cast and premise, but man it is wild how it managed to be so unfunny! still entertaining enough, but pretty middle of the road overall.
