Everything Everywhere All at Once 2022
One of the movies I’ve had the most viscerally emotional reactions to. It manages to be an absurdist comedy, a wild sci fi romp, an action movie a la Jackie Chan, but above all a family drama with so much heart. It speaks particularly to the experiences of immigrants, and their queer children, which hit very close to home. A movie I fall more in love with with every watch, absolutely deserves all the hype and accolades.

Marie Antoinette 2006
A dreamy and romantic retelling of the life of history’s most villainous teen queen. Visually a candy colored feast for the eyes with an ahistorical soundtrack that’s so out of place that it somehow works. While it’s critics may argue it sacrifices substance for style, I’d argue that there’s a lot said in the silences.
