The Way of the Gun 2000
What an overripe durian of a movie. The first 10 minutes led me to expect a nauseating parade of erstaz Boondocks Saints-style machismo. I was bracing for 90 more minutes of sexual threats and gore.
Instead, we have a great turn from James Caan, action beats that are facinating in their specificity (is it a car chase if the chasers are barely in a car?) and the most complex game of Russian Roulette ever interrupted. I love that these crooks don't even bring matching disguises.Translated from by

After Hours 1985
Saw this at the Alamo Drafthouse Littleton for its 30th anniversary -- in 35mm no less. I can't say the tattered, torn, muted print added to the experience, because this is a surprisingly clean, well-plotted New York movie. Even the streets are clear and glistening, and there are a few barely commented-upon moments of coincidence that really blew my mind. Top-notch entertainment.
