    Mickey 17

    ★★★★

Mickey 17 is the pure Joon Ho cinema; it encapsulates that late Joon Ho's style, you can see how many things are here from Parasite, Snowpiercer and even Okja. In this sense it's the perfect Bong Joon Ho film.

I really liked all the thematic elements as well as amazing satire. When it comes to capitalism criticism, Joon Ho is the goat.

    The Monkey

    ★★★

The main thought I had when I left the movie was "Make comedy horrors great again". And The Monkey really tried to do just that. Unfortunately, the film lacks in terms of writing at moments, esp. with a rather slow second act.
The Monkey tries to be both comedy and serious film, but loses in both aspects. This unevenness in tone makes it a hard watch at times.

Stunning, beautiful, interesting, fascinating, though-provoking, unique Dune Part 2 is just PERFECT.

I cannot explain how great this feels. Absolute modern sci-fi masterpiece, which will be forever remembered as one of the greatest sequels ever.

This is Villeneuve's ultimate mangum opus. You have to be so gifted to direct such a huge movie to perfection in every way.

    Speechless.

  • Paulette

    Paulette

    ★★★

This is a good example of that French comedy wave of early 2000s (the prime example of this is Taxi) with absolutely insane 3rd act.
With all that said, it's a good comedy piece, especially at the "edgy" (for some) beginning.
Of course, it has some low points in writing, but besides that Paulette is a good little comedy.
