Anora 2024
I’ve been a fan of Mikey Madison since Better Things, so watching her in this felt like one of those rare moments when an actor fully realizes the “it factor” you recognized in them early on.
Parts of this felt like a metaphorical prophecy, as our working-class heroine fully buys into a millionaire’s facade, believing it to be her ticket out of her circumstances.
Let’s hope the unforgettable “fight scene” doesn’t end up representing a civil war that happens after the millionaire abandons those who put their hope in him.

A Real Pain 2024
Jan. 3rd 2025, 6:48a, started this at 5am while my family slept and I felt I could get through a movie before the day started. Want to talk through my thoughts and feelings that were stirred while watching with someone else who’s watched. Hopefully, this is just a part 1 “review”, but the layers of humanity depicted was audacious. What we carry, reality v what we want reality to be, what brought to where we are and those who’ve been a part of it.
