  A grown up’s Willy

  As much as I was charmed by the music (pure imagination on the piano 😭👑) and production design, the movie didn’t revive, extend, or revise the magic of the original or at least offer a new take on the franchise for me.   Frances Ha 2012

  There’s a scene in the movie where Frances Halladay, the main character, realizes she can’t fit her entire name on her apartment mailbox. So she folds the label to try and make it fit, leaving only “Ha” visible. Frances Ha. That for me is such a great metaphor for what this movie is about, which is being in NY in your 20s and trying to get your life together.
