I don't even know how to describe it, or even if I would want to. It's like a comedy/musical/thriller/mystery/drama... and it manages to be great at all of them.
Miki Nakatani really killed it as Matsuko but everyone else really fit their roles perfectly. The effects, the way it's shot, and the locations/backdrops they used really make this movie feel like a dream. The story was wild enough to be interesting but real enough for you to just kinda go with it.
Another Third Window Films release I'm glad I bought.
