The Assessment 2024
cool little sci-fi film. I really enjoyed this. I love sci-fi films about average people in the future (kinda a rare thing) and this really hits that spot. It might be a bit derivative of other previously explored sci-fi ideas; but overall it tells a really cool, weird concise story. The world building is detailed but subtle. It paints a vivid, real feeling world, and it never has to lore dump on to you to show it. The sound track is also really cool.

Fallen Angels is both some of Wong Kar Wai’s most impressive work, but also maybe not as much as his other works. I was lucky enough to be able to see this in 16mm at a special screening near me. The film is definitely best experienced in that way, the sound of the projector adds to the sonic soundscapes in the film.
