Nosferatu 2024
i'm not a huge horror fan; this movie definitely had me curling up in a ball from disgust though. sick and gorey in all the right ways, lily rose depp so good in this movie definitely made me cringe and writhe in my seat.... but the plot/pacing itself was kind of lackluster and i could barely see anything with the coloring in the theatre... maybe i just have shitty eyes anyways i love willem dafoe

Dirty Dancing 1987
initially, i refrained from watching old school movies just because i found anything filmed pre-2005 out of my range. however, as i grew up, (and got some damn taste) i found myself watching more and more 80s movies (heathers, the breakfast club, hell, even the shining). something about the graininess of a panaflex, a cheesy soundtrack featuring some now classics and some patrick swayze really does it for me. it took me back to the early, cold mornings in the dance studio, where anything felt possible as a child. super cool also i'm in love with jennifer grey. no one puts baby in a corner!

Palmer 2021
a heart-touching movie diving into the nuances of growing up surrounded by addiction. i do not like justin timberlake but acting was decent and they all did a great job of sending a message- it's already hard enough to grow up "different", so don't make it any harder for anyone else. also note the soundtrack, a soft, warm acoustic that suits each scene perfectly. love love love

A Silent Voice: The Movie 2016
after watching this movie sixty-three times, i can officially say that it's the definition of just because something is simple, does not mean it lacks complexity. it follows the story of ishida trudging through his teenage years, much like i am at this very moment. as i watched, i could feel myself living through him and feeling those same emotions of regret, whether it be FOMO or in regards to the past. this movie has a great way of portraying the teenage/coming of age experience and navigating hard conversations surrounding bullying, mental health and learning to live through your mistakes and learn from them.
