Such a frustrating adaptation!
Little Fires Everywhere is one of my favorite books, telling a slowly unravelling tale of how a quite-different family completely upends another - and vice versa. Ng's prose is really great, excelling at letting the story unfurl and unravel.
As such, the adaptation spoils a lot of the genius of the book. Quiet moments become loud ones, unspoken conflict becomes outright conflict, characters that don't yell scream often. Some of this is a necessary concession to…

The Social Network 2010
The perils of making a film about an event so close to the event itself - kinda small potatoes to wonder about the inner dialogues and motivations of someone who’s sped up the decline of democracy, and become an oligarch himself. Will be interesting to see how the film continues to age.
Nonetheless, great movie! Andrew Garfield I am free on Friday night.
