The Deer Hunter 1978
This movie is very very powerful. It really paints a really human cost of the Vietnam war — very personal, intimate, and depressing view into the effects of the Vietnam war on an average lower class industrial American town.
I thought the message was great and it was effective in the intensity of its message / very evocative contrast between happy immature American boys and tragedies in Southeast Asia. HOWEVER, the movie moved sooooo slowly. We watch an entire wedding…

Rosemary's Baby 1968
This movie does an amazing job at tying you into Rosemary’s fear and concerns, as she is slowly trapped into the neighbors’ mysterious plan. It pulls you into into the scene until your screaming at her to run away or find help, and scolding her for being so stupid. I loved it!!!!! The creepiness was sometimes over the top, and the ending was very bizarre - I didn’t enjoy the ending THAT much. But overall good, just you need to be in a mood for dark horrors
