Sisterhood, motherhood, womanhood; humanity.
This film combined all aspects of realism and surrealism to compile a frank picture of what it means to be a woman. I laughed and I cried at not just Margot Robbie’s depiction of Barbie, but Greta Gerwig’s depiction of Ken. Creating a man who is so desperate to apease Barbie, that he consequently takes down Barbieland and with it female empowerment, ends up being a source of laughter, and also, tears.
