I think part of what makes the movie so poignant lies in its simplicity- no adornments, one set, 12 characters (not named), and all attention diverted to a singular objective. The conflict is strung out so neatly despite those confines.
A movie like this could be made today- the tensions between the jurors are relevant now as they ever were. But I don’t know if a movie like this could be made and retain the simplicity that made the original shine.…

I watched this on the plane with bad sound quality and yet it was STILL one of the best movies I’ve seen recently. The main actress is mesmerising - she deserves alllllll the flowers. In this movie she speaks French, English, a bit of German- and she is just as captivating in each language. The young boy who plays her son is incredible too. Flowers all round, bravo!!!
