  When I show friends this film, they normally tell me that it isn’t scary, and that fact makes me think that my generation is used to watch terrible modern horror movies full of jump scares. The reason why Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining shines beyond any of today’s horror films is because we are watching the creation of the monster, an unconventional way of presenting a film of this genre (normally, we never see the monster or his thoughts) 
  What makes this movie scary are our thoughts towards the horrible things that can explode inside the Overlook Hotel.

  Only if you are Mexican, I believe the film would have a bigger impact on you! It has a lot of idiosyncratic themes! It’s an autobiographical film with a lot of Mexico in it!
